The Wisdom of Story with Glennon Doyle Melton & Brené Brown
Humans are a meaning-making species. From the beginning of time we have used stories to understand our experiences, share wisdom, and build connection. Stories are a part of our lives for a simple reason – we are biologically hardwired for storytelling. This is why when something difficult happens, our first thought is, “What’s the story?”
Storytelling is one of the most powerful tools we have for making sense of the world. And, like many powerful tools, storytelling can also be dangerous. In the midst of struggle, it’s easy to tell ourselves stories that aren’t true. Our deepest source of wisdom lives inside our stories. This workshop is about how to harness the power of story so we can own our experiences, be brave, and rise strong.
This four-lesson online workshop, co-facilitated by Glennon Doyle Melton and Brené Brown, provides lessons that can help us find wisdom in the stories of our own lives. Together, we will walk through exercises that invite us to explore what it means to “own our story” and how to create transformative impact by sharing our story.

What You'll Learn
- Identify the “bru-tiful” (brutal + beautiful) adventure that you’re on. Maybe it’s your job or your role as a parent or partner. It can even be a life stage.
- Use the classic three-act story framework as a powerful tool to create awareness around the connection between your thoughts, emotions and behaviors.
- Learn the “rules of the world” – these are the expectations and messages that fuel shame and often provide the conflicts in many of our stories.
- Discover why owning your story of struggle, whether heartbreak, disappointment or failure gives you the power to write your own daring ending.
- Identify how the wisdom of story has the power to make a difference in the world.
All lessons will be available when the course opens and may be completed at your own pace.
